B & K 747B Tube
Tester

This
is the pride and joy of my test equipment collection. While in high
school ( long ago in 2002 ), I also attended a part time tech
school, taking a class on what else, electricity. The instructor of my
class had a Philco console radio ( 47-1227) that he was wanting to get
fixed, and said he could pay me in some old electronics parts.
Those parts ended up being close to a thousand NOS vacuum tubes, mostly
types for radios, and this tube tester. As you can see in the
photo's, this tester looks almost brand new. It has had a very easy
past. Perhaps it was used in the school when tubes were still in use.
The only thing I did to it was a calibration by the manual.

The
747B, is the same as the 747, but with the addition of a circuit
breaker. This is a mutual conductance type tester, which is one of the
better types. It can test just about everything other than CRT's and
older, large pin type tubes, like 45's, 6U5's, ect. Even though this is
probably the least used piece of test equipment I own, It's still cool
to have around.
